First . . The announcements so nobody thinks I forgot them when I went on a mission.
Also thanks for all the letters. I really do love getting the little monthy updates from some of my favorite familes!
Happy Birthday Stephen!!!!!! I did remember your birthday last week but somehow it never got put in the letter. But I remembered. On Sunday I told my comp . . .its the birthday of my brother. How weird. He is an adult now. So congrats!!
Also congrats to my cousin Jessica that got engaged. How exiting!
Bueno. This week was crazy. But good. Well really, I think that every week of my mission will be crazy. Because, well I really dont know why, but I think is has to do with the fact that we are trying to help 3 different couples of our investagatores understand that getting married is a good thing. People here will be married with 4 kids that are all adults, having been together for 30 years. And they still aren´t married. And you and your comp have to commit them to marrying eachother And its funny because they refer to their husband as their husband, so it always seems to be like a week after we start teaching them that they think to mention that their esposo really isnt their esposo. So we are praying that Febrary indeed will be a month of love and that San Lorenzo will see many weddings!! Which is also good because I am missing katies wedding. And Jessicas. Cassi, if she gets married before I come home . . . well I will just be really sad.
But I told my companion this the other week and this is kind of our comp joke but also motto. Because a lot of our day is walking past houses inbetween lessons that the people are there or not (the Paraguayos are sometimes not very good at being in their houses when they say they will be) and its like . . . .mmm, lets contact this house . . .and so we do. And sometimes they are not interested, and sometimes we find miracles and they are really full of faith and the spirit it really strong and they accept a baptismal date in the contact/1st lesson. And I told my comp, its like felix felices, in harry potter. Hermione asks Harry ¨Why do you want to go to Hagrids house.¨and Harry says Ï dont know, I just feel . . . good about it¨ And that is soooo what missionaries do everyday. We dont need magical potions because we have something better. The spirit!!
Other funny thing about paraguay. I have been meaning to say this for awhile, but I always forget. This is one of my favorite things about paraguay. The word for kids here that people always use is creataturas. Yeah, the literal translation is creatures. They will say ¨Sorry, I dont have time to share with you right now. I have to go bathe the creatures¨. or ¨The creatures are calling to me, I think I have to go feed the creatures now¨. Now I dont even think twice about it but in the beginning I always wanted to laugh. How funny!
We taught this lesson to Nadia this week, and it was so cool. She struggled to understand everything we were teaching her before, but now that she has the holy ghost everything is different. We shared with her and her mom and talked about the gift of the holy ghost, and the spirit was so strong. She just is . . . . happier now. I have such a testimony of how the Holy Ghost changes lives. It definately has changed mine.
Oh man, now I have taken up my time writing funny things, and not the miracles. Becuase there are so many miracles that happened this week! I will tell you all about them next week! I promise. No funny things. Only spiritual.
I love you all so much, and sorry that I am a little scatterbrained today. I forgot to write myself a list of the things I wanted to talk about.
Love,
Hna Jarman
