Oct 26, 2015

Wow.  This week was good.  Changes.  I have a Chileana now!!!!  She is from Calama, Antafogasta, Chile!  And I really like her a lot.  She talks like an American.  And by that I mean that not only she speaks enlgish, but that literally her accent sounds kind of american.  Like someone from chicago that learned spanish.  Even the members think that (she is american because the way she talks).  Also she is super sweet and super happy.  And she has 14 months in the mission so she is super tranquilla. So we just instantly got along perfectly.

But then came the trial . .  we just had baptized the last of our really cool investigators . .  so we didnt really have many people all that good to baptize.

So we started praying, started working (super hard . . . we have been sleeping well too) and then on Sunday we fasted.  And these are the two miracles of this week.

1.... Chocha.  Our little grandma.  She is the mom of a member and we have been teaching her for a long time but she never could get to church because she literally is confined to her bed and cant walk.  In a perfect world the streets would be asphalt and she would have a wheelchair that works, and everyone would have cars to help . .  but paraguay isnt exactly wheelchair friendly.  And the members werent exacly all that in love with the idea of making a fuss for an 82 year old woman.  But its ok.  They just dont understand that she just like them, has sins, and needs to be baptized to be able to recieve the HG so when her daugher goes to work she wont feel lonely alone in her house for 10 hours.  And with the hermana paredes she got sick and we really thought she might pass on, so I think now we safely know that God is saving her for something. Like recieving sacred covenants.  But we knew these things, and had faith.  And we prayed and then we challenged her to have the faith that god would help her get to the church in safety and that she would love it, and SHE SAID YES!  So we found a different backwoods trail that doesnt have many roads of rocks . .  and sunday went to go find her.  And there she was with her daughter, her frail little arms and legs, with her nails painted, super exited to go to church.  So we lifted her turns out not so frail body (she looks skinny, but I think she weighs like 150 at least because she was really heavy for me and her daughter to lift) and put her in her wheelchair.  And then we got to the road and realized that . .  even 1 block of road with rocks is almost imossible to cross with a wheelichair.  And just as my faith started falling a little teeny bit her neighboor who just happened to be outside siad ¨where are you taking her . .  I will take you guys there so you dont have to pay for taxi . . .¨  And Alex the neighboor who I dont even think had really met chocha before (this is why I love poarguayos) lifted her into the car, put us all in their, took us all to the church and everything.  and then of course, when the ward met her, and saw how cute she is  . . . everyone wanted to help her.  Everyone wanted that one day she can get baptized, the bishop came and knelt down in front hçof her to greet her after the reunion, and for this sweet grandma who I really dont think had left her little bedroom for 5 months . . . she loved the church and wanted to get baptized.  She went to the church before a little bit (years ago) and we called the leaders and got permission so she will get baptized this saturday if all goes well.

So that was a huge miracle, but then a miracle even bigger happened.

There was a man that was a reference of the married misisonaries in San Lorenzo that was looking for work . . . and hna P and me went to teach him.  The first lesson about the restoracion went well. We invited him to read and pray.  The second was a disaster. He had found some anti mormon, looked for profund details of Joseph smith and started asking us how many wives he had, why he was a mason.  He was trying to find an answer but was looking in ALL the wrong places.  He didnt want to listen, he wanted to critisive.  He is studying law and I really felt like I was in a court and he was the lawyer twisting our words.  nevertheless we testified that he would never find the answer he was llooking for on the internet, he had to humbled himself and have faith and left.  We both cried that night, questioning if we had done the right thing.

Anyway, 3 months later we visited him for the first time.  And my comp went to use his bathroom and I sat down and he said ¨Hermana, I did the whole thing that you told me.  I humbled myself and asked and everything and got close to God, and I think I now am ready to get baptized.  What do I have to do to get baptized¨

I mean, I had faith that fasts work, but I guess I wasnt expecting an answer like that . . . . So in 5 days, we filled our area with super cool people to baptize!!!  God blesses us so much when we just trust completely in him.

Anyway, love you all!!
